Getting to Pokatok

The Sports Tech Capital

Houston, the ultimate playground for sports dreamers like us. This Texas gem isn’t just a city; it’s a slam dunk of culture, passion, cuisine, diversity and relentless spirit. Houston’s culinary scene is like a championship bracket of international cuisines, offering a taste of the world right at your fingertips.

Below you’ll find some helpful tips for getting to and around Houston during the festival.

International Travel

Both IAH and Hobby Airports offer direct flights from over a combined 100 international cities from 30 different airlines. We suggest looking through flights via United and Southwest Airlines as they are the pre-eminent airlines in Houston.

If you are needing a VISA, Check out the U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs for the most up-to-date information to apply for your U.S. VISA.

Individuals applying for a non-immigrant visa at the U.S. Embassy will be required to submit an electronic application form, known as the DS-160 Non-Immigrant Visa Electronic Application form.

The VISA Waiver Program (VWP) enables most citizens or nationals of participating countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for stays of 90 days or less, without first obtaining a visa, when they meet specific requirements. Travelers must have a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval prior to travel. If you prefer to have a VISA in your passport, you may still apply for a visitor (B) VISA.

Airport → Convention Center / Hotels

Unfortunately, Houston does not yet have an extensive public transportation system. There are cash-only busses that run from both airports, but for a faster & more direct route we suggest using Uber or Lyft.

  • IAH to Downtown: Metro Bus 102 – Baggage Claim Level, south side of Terminal C
  • Hobby to Downtown: Metro Bus 40 – Curb Zone 3 outside Baggage Claim/Arrivals Level

Getting Around

Thankfully, Houston during early April is usually incredibly nice as far as weather goes, so walking around Downtown is easy and enjoyable. If you want to experience more nightlife or other parts of the city, we highly recommend using Uber / Lyft as parking can be a bit of a pain.
